She practiced in southwest Michigan for 6 years before moving closer to home and joining Plymouth Road Animal Clinic in September 2021. Dr. DeBruine’s interests include dermatology, dentistry, preventative medicine, and client education. One of her favorite parts of veterinary medicine is how it is always changing and advancing; there is always something new to learn! She has a Shih Tzu named Sachi, aka Bissell Missile, and enjoys reading, camping, and playing games with friends in her spare time.

Dr. Kathleen Cannady

Veterinarian

Dr. Cannady has a special interest in internal medicine, behavioral medicine, and preventative care for the young and old. She reminds people that age isn’t a disease for those with two legs or four; it just poses new challenges. And yes, she does enjoy working with cats!
Dr. Cannady is a Michigan State University Alumna-Veterinary Technology, Bachelor of Science, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Her career began in Laboratory Animal Medicine and biomedical research. After veterinary school she began working in small animal practice including seven years in a feline-only practice. And, twelve years as a house call veterinarian.
Dr. Cannady has called Grand Rapids home for the last twenty-five years. A native of Troy, Michigan, she has grown to love West Michigan and the lake effect snow!
She and her husband MIchael live in northwest GR. They share their home with son Eric, four cats, and a big black dog. The felines: Louie, Tiger Lily, Snoopy, and Krista attempt to keep Quinn, the Newfoundland, in line. “Cats rule, dogs drool”.
When not at the clinic you can find Dr. Cannady working on home projects, gardening, or knitting with her friends lovingly known as the “Knitting Mafia”.

Dr. Kirk was delighted to join a practice with an outstanding staff that takes a true team approach to providing quality veterinary care, not to mention a state-of-the-art facility.  Her favorite part of the job is that every day is different and often unpredictable.  In her spare time Ellyn enjoys traveling with her family, country music concerts, and attempting to learn the game of Pickleball.   She and her husband share their home with their two teenage children, a black Labrador Retriever named Toby and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Rodeo.

Kaylyn

Client Service Representative

I am from the heart of Grand Rapids and I have loved every second of it! I’ve always had a passion for animals.  Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to work in the veterinary field. I grew up with two cats in my house at all times.  I love being a part of every pet’s life that comes through our doors! I really enjoy seeing pets grow up and transition through life! My favorite part of being a receptionist is that I am the first and last experience our clients have! I strive to make the experience here as good as it can be.  Having previous experience from a very large clinic, it was an amazing transition to a smaller clinic. Everyone here is a big family and I am very lucky to be a part of it! I can truly say I love EVERYONE here and that is pretty hard to find.  I currently live on the northwest side of Grand Rapids with my husband Ben, daughter Collins, two cats Felix and Oliver, our purebred mutt Mac and our deaf dog Howie.  When I’m not at work I enjoy baseball and hockey games with my husband and daughter.  During the summer our favorite thing to do is to take Mac and Howie to the dog beach! Nothing makes a dog more tired than playing in the water and sand.

Kaitlynn

Client Service Representative

Kaitlynn joined the PRAC team in May 2021. Prior to the PRAC, she volunteered at an animal shelter in California, then worked at a local shelter as both a kennel tech and receptionist for 5 years. She has been fostering animals for 6 years including puppies and adult dogs, as well as neonatal kittens and adult cats. In addition to working, Kaitlynn is pursuing her degree in Biology at GRCC. She shares her home with her longtime boyfriend Dakota, dog Ares, and newest foster-fail kitten, Rhea. In her spare time she enjoys playing video games with Dakota, reading, drawing and painting.

Molly

Client Service Representative

Molly joined the Plymouth Road staff in August 2022. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from Michigan State University. She has loved caring for animals and has been active in the veterinary field for over 30 years. Molly lives on the northeast side of Grand Rapids with her three Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Junior, Charley and Wager. Outside of work she loves to garden. Hostas are her passion. She enjoys going to dogs shows with her corgis and has the honor to judge a few sweepstakes assignments at Pembroke specialty dog shows. Molly is also an avid reader.

Marla

Client Service Representative

Marla has a background of working in “people” healthcare, as a pharmacy tech way back in the day then as administrative support at Butterworth Hospital and DeVos Children’s Hospital. She had a period of several short-term positions then a friend told her the cat clinic was looking for someone for the front desk / administrative help. She worked at the cat clinic for 15 years and retired in 2021. A year later, she walked into Plymouth Road Animal Clinic to check it out to maybe start taking her dog here. As she left, she said, um, if you need someone part time for CSR, let me know. She started the end of July 2022 and loves working with dogs AND cats and the doctors and staff at PRAC.

Britteny

Veterinary Assistant

Britteny started working at Plymouth Road in January of 2020. She graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2016 and decided to join the veterinary field because it allows her to use her skills she gained from her degree. Her passion has always been caring for animals and she is able to do that working in a small animal practice. Her favorite part of working at Plymouth Road is being able to help pets and owners get truly great care from our talented staff. She loves her job here so much so she is studying to become on of our licensed technicians! She lives in her home in Grand Rapids with her husband Zach, her two dogs Baylor and Bella, and her cats Ethel and Cade. In her spare time she loves to attend music concerts, spend time with her friends and family, and to go camping.

Brianna

Veterinary Assistant

Brianna began working at Plymouth Road in 2014, helping to keep the clinic tidy. She has now transitioned into the role of a veterinary assistant. She loves helping with patients in the treatment area, and being able to observe surgeries. She has a dog named Joey and a cat named Stanley. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family and pets.

McKenzy

Veterinary Assistant

McKenzy joined the vet field because nothing makes her happier than taking care of animals of all kinds! She loves getting to help make people’s pets as healthy and happy as they can be. Outside of work you will find her feeding local stray kitties, camping with her wife, or cuddling with their own cats Romeo, Stevie, Cheddar, and Frank.

Marci

Veterinary Assistant

When hooting flocks of pterodactyl were still swooping, Marci realized her life’s calling ws to work with animals instead of Hospitality Management and Tourism. Being feral herself, she decided to start her career at a feline-only specialty practice. After many years of learning cat medicine, cat language (she’s fluent), and cat behavior, she decided it was time to start branching out and doing other amazing things in the animal medical field. Marci has spent time as a Practice Manager in the non-profit sector, for a low cost clinic, working with pharmaceutical companies for medication and vaccine development, working in research on major studies, including wound care and treatments, heart transplants, and laparoscopic procedures, radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroidism, rescue and fostering, and alongside the HSUS to train law enforcement and social services how to identify dog fighting. Marci’s preferred area of focus is, of course, felines, lab testing, treatments, and client education. Outside of work, Marci loves sitting in boxes, chasing sunbeams, begging for treats, her family and friends, concerts, barking at passersby, tool, pizza, painting and pets.

Sandra

Veterinary Assistant

Sandra grew up in West Michigan and currently resides in Grand Haven. In 2015 she adopted a dog, Hazel, and started working at the shelter she obtained her from. After 5 years of working at the shelter, she got her first Veterinary Assistant job and has been in love with her job ever since! Outside of work, she enjoys finding new hobbies, kayaking, and spending time with family.

Rachaelyn

Veterinary Assistant

Rachael started working at Plymouth Road in the summer of 2022 as a veterinary assistant. She graduated from Calvin College in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and also Photography. Her interests are animal training, neonatal kittens, and canine fitness. Outside of work you can find her taking pictures of nature/animals, hiking, camping, reading, or doing dog sports with her hounds. She lives with a plethora of animals which currently includes 3 hounds, 6 cats, and 1 guinea pig (though the number fluctuates often). One fun fact about Rachael is that her animals are named after Disney characters!

Oliver

Oliver has been working hard as an office assistant at PRAC since July, 2014. He spends his days snacking, tucking himself into his many beds, and enjoying piles of warm laundry. Don’t let this relaxed boy fool you, Oliver has a high work drive which he shows via morning zoomies and his love of biscuit making (during staff snuggles).  Oliver can often be found hanging up front with the receptionists, snoozin’ in the office, or playing with his best friend Timothy.

Timmy

Timothy has been “working” at PRAC since October, 2017. Fondly known as our social office manager, Tim is the best cat we have to meet new patients because he has no fear. Timothy is known for slowly strutting into rooms unannounced for treats and then loudly complaining as he is removed.  He may say that he never gets fed, but if any food is left unattended Tim will be sure to find it. Timothy can be found sleeping on any surface throughout the clinic (often belly up and legs out), begging for snacks or sink water, or hanging with his good pal Oliver.

JoJo

JoJo has been working at PRAC since June, 2019. JoJo has been assisting Fuzzy in the Kennel Room as Laundry Inspection Clerk. JoJo fits the phrase, “workin’ hard or hardly workin”. When she isn’t sleeping high up on some clean laundry or in an exam room cupboard, she is aggressively seeking attention at reception.  She’ll let you know when she needs some lovin’ and then she’ll be gone just as fast as she appeared. JoJo can be found on the top shelf in the Kennel Room in her cat condo.

Eugene

Eugene has been working at PRAC as head of security since February, 2021. Though new to his position, Eugene does a fine job inspecting both front and back of house for any nefarious characters. Eugene started a bit shy, but has come out of his shell and will gladly accept pets when hanging in the lobby. Eugene can often be found here, there, and everywhere in between; but mostly at a door asking to get to the other side.

Ricky Bobby

My name is Ricky Bobby and I like to go FAST! Some people say my Daddy was a Bobcat and my Mamma was a raccoon (that might be true) but they call me Pesky Doodle because I think I’m a purebred Doodle and I’m pesky as hell…like I’m all hopped up on Mountain Dewwwww!  My motto is, “If you ain’t first, you’re last!” and hey-yo, I’m always first to the snacks. I came to the PRAC, from a rescue, as a little 3 pound 1 ounce dear baby with a broken & mangled tail, a revving motor, and a heart full of love. They took my tail but I took up permanent residence. My favorite things to do when I’m not being a menace, greeting clients, or snoozing, is racin’ and snackin’, and snackin’ and attackin’, and attackin’ and zoomin’, and zoomin’ and groomin’, and groomin’ and mousin’, and mousin’ and singin’, and singin’ and stringin’, and stringin’ and snugglin’, and snugglin’ and sucklin’ and…VROOOOOOOOOOOM!  Shake & bake, baby!
